Each year, the IRS identifies the twelve most common scams to watch out for during tax season. The scams “can lead to everything from identity theft to being misled into [incorrectly] claiming tax credits”.

The list includes:

• Email phishing scams
• Bad social media advice
• Fake charities
• Scammers posing as tax assistance professionals
